Warning

Pro-Palestinian activists plan to hold protests in Washington, DC, on July 24 amid Israeli Primer Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the US capital. Netanyahu is scheduled to speak before members of the US Congress at 14:00. The main protest is scheduled from 11:00 outside the US Capitol, but protests are also likely in other locations, including outside the Washington Hebrew Congregation near Massachusetts Avenue NW, where Netanyahu will host an event, around the Watergate Hotel, where members of the Israeli delegation are staying, and around the White House.

Authorities have deployed a large security operation, including numerous road closures and adding fences around the US Capitol, and are likely to close additional roads. Clashes between protesters and police are likely; acts of vandalism are possible. Associated business disruptions are also likely in the affected areas.

Avoid any protests that materialize. Heed instructions from authorities. Plan accordingly for localized road travel delays. Immediately depart the area at the first sign of any security disturbance.
