France: Suspicious package prompts authorities to suspend TER train service to Avignon at Pierrelatte station as of evening of Aug. 30

Authorities have activated suspicious package protocols at Pierrelatte train station in Pierrelatte as of the evening of Aug. 30 due to a piece of abandoned luggage discovered at the facility. Officials have reportedly evacuated the station and temporarily suspended Transport Express Regional (TER) train service at the station for trains traveling to Avignon. Bomb squad personnel are scheduled to arrive at the site at 21:15; TER train service will not resume at the station until after the bomb disposal personnel complete their investigative work at the site.

Residual rail transport disruptions will likely affect Pierrelatte station even after authorities' investigative work is complete as railway personnel reposition rolling stock and work through any passenger backlog that materializes.
