A magnitude-5.6 earthquake occurred south of Indonesia at around 19:57 Aug 26. The epicenter was approximately 85 km (53 miles) south of Bambanglipuro. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 61 km (38 miles), and weak-to-light shaking was probably felt on parts of central Java Island. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake; significant damage is unlikely.
