Kenya: Unionized aviation personnel postpone indefinite nationwide strike planned to start from Aug. 19 /update 1
Unionized aviation personnel postpone indefinite nationwide strike across Kenya, planned to start from Aug. 19; further strikes possible.
Employees of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and Kenya Airways (KQ) affiliated with the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) have postponed an indefinite nationwide strike that was planned to start from Aug. 19. The postponement is to allow talks with the government; the strike had been called to protest a proposed government deal with Indian company Adani Airport Holdings for the expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). KAWU representatives have stated the union will call for further strikes should talks fail.
