Residual rail transport disruptions may affect trains scheduled to run on the Central Line in Kigoma Region over the coming days after passenger train Y14, with train head number 9002, derailed on the route between Kazuramimba and Uvinza stations on Aug. 28. The incident injured some 70 people, 57 of whom were discharged from medical care shortly after the derailment occurred. Following the incident, officials said that the train continued on its trip eastward toward Dar es Salaam via Tabora, Dodoma, Morogoro, and Pwani regions.
Engineering crews may maintain a presence at the scene of the crash over the short term to conduct any track repairs needed following the derailment.
