Flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, are affecting airports in the New York metropolitan area as of Aug. 19 due to severe weather impacting the region. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued ground delay programs for Newark Liberty International (EWR), John F. As of 16:00, average flight delays are around 143 minutes at EWR, 47 minutes at LGA, and 197 minutes at JFK. The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the New York metropolitan area, including Teterboro Airport (TEB), over the coming hours. Residual disruptions are possible through early Aug. 19 even after weather conditions improve as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.

Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via EWR, LGA, JFK, or other airports in the New York metropolitan area through at least late Aug. 19. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
