US: Flight disruptions affecting airports in Philadelphia and the Washington, DC metropolitan area as of Aug. 29 due to severe weather
Severe weather causing flight disruptions at airports in Philadelphia, Penn., and the Washington, DC metropolitan area, US, Aug. 29.
Flight disruptions, including delays and cancellations, are affecting airports in Philadelphia and the Washington, DC, metropolitan area on Aug. 29 amid severe weather impacting the region. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued ground stop programs for Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) in Maryland until at least 19:00; at Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) in Northern Virginia until at least 19:30, and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) until at least 19:45. The FAA may modify or rescind the abovementioned air traffic control programs on short notice.
The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the Mid-Atlantic Region over the coming hours. Residual disruptions are possible through early Aug. 30, even after weather conditions improve as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via PHL, BWI, DCA, or IAD, Aug. 29-30. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
