Severe weather causes flight disruptions at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington State, US, late Aug. 17.
Flight disruptions are occurring at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in Seattle, Washington State, as of late Aug. 17 due to severe weather. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued ground stop and ground delay programs that are slated to remain in effect until at least 23:00 Aug. 17 and 00:59 Aug. 18, respectively, due to thunderstorms. Flight departures are reportedly delayed by an average of 71 minutes. The FAA may modify or rescind the abovementioned air traffic control programs on short notice.
Residual disruptions are possible even after weather conditions improve as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via SEA. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
