US: Flight disruptions possible at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport through late Aug. 24 following earlier systems outage
Flight disruptions likely through late Aug. 24 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seattle, Wash., US, due to possible cyberattack.
Flight disruptions are possible at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in Seattle in Washington State through at least late Aug. 24 following a systems outage. The Port of Seattle, including SEA Airport, has been experiencing an internet and web outage since the early morning hours; the outage is impacting unspecified systems at the facilities. Port officials believe the outage is the result of a cyberattack and have asked passengers traveling via SEA to confirm flight status with their airlines. It remains unclear whether the outage is also impacting the city's maritime ferry services.
Residual disruptions will probably extend for several hours even after operations return to normal as airlines work to reposition aircraft and clear passenger backlogs.
Confirm flight reservations if scheduled to travel via SEA through at least the end of Aug. 24. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
