France: Unionized teachers to strike nationwide, Sept. 10

Unionized teachers plan to strike nationwide Sept. 10. The FSU-SNUipp, CGT Education, and Sud Education unions will denounce the evaluation method in elementary schools. The industrial action will impact maternelle (nursery) and elementaire (elementary) schools, affecting children from ages 4-11.

Unless averted, the strike may disrupt businesses where parents have to provide emergency childcare. Striking teachers may rally at national and regional education administrative centers, and picket protests are possible at schools nationwide. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are possible near any protests that may occur.
