Informational

The Gerakan Aksi Umat Melawan (GAUM) and 24 other groups have called for a Pancasila Sanctity Day rally in Bandung City, West Java, from 09:00 Oct. 1. Activists will gather at the PUSDAI mosque and proceed to the Gedung Sate landmark before moving to the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) building along Jalan Diponegoro. Organizers are denouncing President Joko Widodo for policies that allegedly undermine the Pancasila principles such as social justice and democracy. A few hundred participants will likely attend the event.

Authorities are likely to increase security deployment along the rally route. Imposition of traffic restrictions such as security cordons, diversions, and road closures are probable if there is a large turnout. Minor scuffles are possible, mainly if demonstrators try to bypass security barriers. Traffic disruptions are likely near gathering sites, especially if activists block roads.

Avoid the demonstration as a precaution. In the event of clashes, leave the area immediately for a secure, nongovernment building. Allow additional time for travel to nearby destinations; do not navigate roadblocks. Heed all local security and traffic advisories.
