Ireland: Anti-racism activists to stage protest in central Dublin, Sept. 19

Anti-racism activists to stage protest in central Dublin, Ireland, from 13:30 Sept. 19. Localized transport, business disruptions likely.

Warning

Anti-racism activists will protest in central Dublin from 13:30 Sept. 19. Civil society groups, including Stand Up to Racism, will meet at the corner of Grafton Street and Suffolk Street. Some reports indicate that an alleged anti-immigration march will take place through the city center and that the planned protest is a counter-demonstration. It is unclear how many people will take part in the event; however, several thousand people attended an anti-racism march in August.

Increased security, localized transport disruptions, and business disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the protest. While the event will probably remain largely peaceful, some minor confrontations cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the march as a standard precaution and consider seeking alternative routes to circumvent the impacted area. Heed all instructions from local authorities. Allow extra time to reach destinations in central Dublin during the demonstration.
