Kenya: Aviation personnel call off strike at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport and other airports on Sept. 11 /update 2

Aviation workers suspend strike at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport and other Kenyan airports, on Sept. 11.

Informational

Employees of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) affiliated with the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) have called off the strike action and related protests on Sept. 11. The move follows an agreement between aviation workers' union and government authorities, allowing normal flight operations to resume countrywide. Affected facilities by the strike included Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport (NBO), Moi International Airport (MBA), Kisumu International Airport (KIS), and Eldoret International Airport (EDL). Airport workers at NBO initially began the walkout at 00:01 to condemn a proposed government deal with Indian company Adani Airport Holdings for the expansion of NBO projects. The aviation workers' union was provided 10 days to deliberate on the proposed deal.

Further minor gatherings and disruptions are possible near aviation facilities nationwide.
