Lebanon: Israeli airstrike reportedly targets vicinity of Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport late Sept. 28
Airstrike targets site near Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport in Lebanon late Sept. 28; no flight disruptions immediately reported.
At least one Israeli airstrike reportedly targeted a site near Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) in Beirut late Sept. 28. The strike does not appear to have disrupted operations at BEY. The incident comes amid the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) regular bombardment of Lebanese Hizballah (LH) military infrastructure across Lebanon, particularly Beirut's Dahieh suburb, which serves as the LH's stronghold.
Increased security and disruptions to transport and business are likely in the affected area over the coming hours. Further cross-border violence is likely in the short term. Demonstrations are possible.
Avoid the impacted area until authorities give the all-clear. Seek alternative routes and allow additional travel time to nearby destinations. Heed instructions from authorities. In light of recent regional tensions, consider avoiding nonessential travel to Lebanon, particularly the border region shared with Israel, until the situation stabilizes. Consider departing Lebanon via commercial means while these are available. Note that commercial options to leave Lebanon may become increasingly limited if the security environment further deteriorates. Avoid any demonstrations that materialize.
