Informational

Unionized passenger road transport workers, including taxi drivers, are staging a protest and blocking several highways in the general vicinity of Jilotepec, Mexico State, on Sept. 9. The purpose of the action is to denounce growing insecurity, as well as perceived extortion and abuse of authority.

Participants plan to block the Arco Norte (M40D), Atlacomulco-Toluca (55D), and Mexico City-Queretaro (57D) highways. Reports indicate that protesters on the Mexico City-Queretaro highway have gathered near the Tepotzotlan toll booth and intend to move in a go-slow convoy toward Naucalpan.

Transport and business disruptions are likely in the affected area. Heightened security is likely near protester roadblocks; clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement personnel cannot be ruled out.

Avoid all protests. Consider alternative routes to circumvent affected thoroughfares. Do not attempt to drive through protester roadblocks; wait for police to dismantle them before proceeding. Strictly heed the instructions of authorities.
