Anti-colonial and anti-immigrant activists plan to hold separate protests in Lisbon on Sept. 21. Anti-colonial activists plan to march from Marques de Pombal to Largo Sao Domingos from 15:00. The purpose of the demonstration is to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of anti-colonial activists Amilcar Cabral. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.
Separately, activists affiliated with the Chega political party plan to protest at Alameda in Lisbon from 15:30 Sept. 21. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand immigration restrictions. At least some participants plan to gather at Fonte Luminosa at 15:30 before walking to Alameda to join the main demonstration. Counter-protests are likely near the demonstration site. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend.
