Switzerland: Unionized workers to demonstrate in Bern Sept. 21
Unionized workers to march from Schuetzenmatte to Bundesplatz from 13:15 on Sept. 21. Heightened security, transport disruptions likely.
Unionized workers plan to hold a protest march in central Bern Sept. 21. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand wage increases. Participants will gather and rally at Shuetzenmatteplatz 13:15-14:00, march to Bundesplatz 14:00-15:00, then rally at Bundesplatz 15:00-16:00. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend; however, large crowds are likely.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the rally sites and along the procession route. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near or between the rally sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
