Tunisia: Activists plan to protest in Tunis Sept. 27
Activists plan to protest at Assembly of Representatives of the People in Tunis, Tunisia, from 10:00 on Sept. 27. Increased security likely.
The Tunisian Network of Rights and Freedoms has called for a protest in front of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People in Tunis from 10:00 on Sept. 27. The action is to denounce proposed amendments to the electoral law ahead of the country's Oct. 6 elections. The Assembly of Representatives will discuss this amendment on Sept. 27. A similar protest was organized on Sept. 22 near the Municipal Theater and attracted hundreds of participants.
Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the rally site. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, mainly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or if they ignore police orders to disperse.
Avoid the protest due to the potential for clashes. Heed the advice of security personnel. Allow additional time if traveling through the affected area on Sept. 27.
