Authorities have declared the event to be a major incident and evacuated nearby East Croydon Station. Police are asking residents near the incident site to remain indoors. Rail services are suspended at East Croydon Station, and rail operators have reported service disruptions on the Southern, Gatwick Express, and Thameslink lines. Authorities did not immediately provide an estimate as to how long restrictions related to the incident would remain in effect.

Heightened security and road closures will likely remain in effect near One Croydon over the short term. Rail disruptions will likely continue on the affected lines through at least the evening and may linger for several hours after East Croydon Station reopens.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Consider alternatives to the Southern, Gatwick Express, and Thameslink lines, particularly for travel passing near East Croydon Station. Allow additional time if traveling in Croydon. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
