In mid-September, six schools in the Springfield City School District received threats, forcing their evacuation, including two on Sept. 16. Additionally, local authorities canceled a yearly festival, called CultureFest, scheduled for Sept. 27-28, due to the numerous threats received by the city in recent weeks. Officials said the cancelation was to preserve the safety of residents and visitors.
