Authorities are continuing their response to a hazardous materials (hazmat) incident in the Pierpoint neighborhood of Ventura, Calif., as of Sept. 22. The incident initially began at about 11:30 Sept. 19; evacuation measures were put in place at that time but were subsequently lifted at about 17:56 the same day. However, authorities issued renewed evacuation orders along Bayshore Avenue and Marina Park at about 09:52 Sept. 22 until further notice due to potentially dangerous levels of hydrocarbon vapors. Ventura City Police officials anticipate that repairs to correct the situation will be completed some time Sept. 23.

Authorities will likely maintain an increased security presence near the affected area to facilitate ongoing operations and enforce the evacuation orders. Further security restrictions could be implemented depending on public safety needs. Associated localized transport disruptions are likely.
