A magnitude-4.3 earthquake occurred on Hawaii island in Hawaii at around 16:25 Sept. 14. The epicenter was about 7 km (4 miles) south-southwest of Volcano. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 0.3 km (0.2 mile), and weak-to-moderate shaking was probably felt throughout Hawaii and southern Maui islands. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake. It could take several hours until authorities can conduct comprehensive damage assessments, especially in remote areas. Aftershocks are possible over the coming days.
