However, they have reported that a smash-and-grab robbery did occur at the mall. Masked individuals used sledgehammers to break glass storefronts and deployed a fire extinguisher in the mall.

During the same timeframe, a carjacking was reported, which led to a foot chase on the Pentagon grounds nearby. Authorities confirmed that the suspects involved in the robbery fled on foot while the three individuals connected to the carjacking were arrested.
