France: Activists to demonstrate in central Nantes Oct. 12

Political activists affiliated with the Unified Brittany organization plan to stage a protest at Cours Saint Pierre and march through central Nantes, from 12:00 on Oct. 12. The purpose of the action is to demand the unification of Brittany and improved recognition of Brittany's language. Participants will gather at Cours Saint Pierre from 12:00 and stage a march through central Nantes; at 15:00, demonstrators will return to Cours Saint Pierre to conclude the parade. The precise route of the march remains unclear. Attendees will remain at Cours Saint Pierre until at least 20:00, when all demonstration activities will conclude. Based on previous events, several hundred to more than a thousand participants are likely to attend.
