France: Workers and activists plan two demonstrations in Paris, Oct. 29
Unionized workers and activists to hold unrelated protests at Palais Bourbon and on Boulevard Saint-Germain, Paris, France, Oct. 29.
Unionized workers and activists plan to hold unrelated demonstrations in Paris Oct. 25. Workers plan to protest at Palais Bourbon 13:00-17:00 to denounce proposed changes to social security programs; the gathering coincides with a government debate on the proposal. After this, activists plan to protest on Boulevard Saint-Germain near the intersection with Rue Saint-Benoit from 18:00. The purpose of this demonstration is to mark the 59th anniversary of the disappearance of Moroccan political figure Mehdi ben Barka in Paris. It was not immediately clear how many participants would attend the two gatherings.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near both protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
