Warning

Security forces are responding to unrest in Korkino, Chelyabinsk Oblast, early Oct. 25 following the apparent stabbing death of a local taxi driver. Authorities have detained more than 50 people in connection with the unrest, which reportedly involved crowds rioting in an ethnically Roma neighborhood late Oct. 24; several arson attacks were reported that targeted local residences and vehicles. Multiple injuries have also been reported. Security forces have deployed to the area in large numbers.

Authorities will likely maintain a heightened security presence in the area over the coming days and may close local roads on short notice. Localized disruptions to transport and business will probably affect areas subject to increased security. Further rioting and violence cannot be ruled out.

Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
