As of late Oct. 24, authorities are responding after unidentified assailants shot at a military convoy near Petropavlovskaya in Chechnya earlier in the day. The attack killed at least one soldier and wounded one other; some sources have asserted that the assault killed three people. Officials have reportedly launched an operation to search for the attackers.

Heightened security measures, including checkpoints, will likely affect the vicinity of Petropavlovskaya and may extend into nearby Grozny. Transport disruptions may affect areas subject to increased security. Further shootings targeting security forces cannot be ruled out over the short term.
