An explosion reportedly occurred in the Al-Qusour area of Daraa late Oct. 28. Preliminary reports indicate that an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated near the Musa bin Nusair Mosque. The intended purpose of the attack is not immediately clear; however, reports indicate that a member of the Military Intelligence Division may have been targeted. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Daraa is about 7 km (4 miles) from the Syrian-Jordanian border.

Authorities will likely maintain an elevated security posture near the scene of the attack over the coming hours. Localized ground travel and commercial services disruptions are possible. Further similar attacks cannot be ruled out in the area over the medium term.
