Emergency crews are responding to a collision between two passenger trains near Talerddig in northern Powys County, Wales, as of early Oct. 22. Officials stated that the incident occurred at around 19:30 the previous evening involving the 18:31 Transport for Wales service from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and the 19:09 service from Machynlleth to Shrewsbury. According to initial reports, the crash has resulted in at least one fatality and up to 15 injuries. The cause of the incident is not immediately clear.

Heightened security and localized ground transport disruptions are likely in the coming hours as emergency operations continue. Transport for Wales has suspended all train services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth until further notice, with rail replacement services in place.

The incident site is around 110 km (68 miles) north-northeast of Swansea.
