Informational

A woman's rights group, the National Rally Collective, plans to hold protests in major urban centers nationwide from 18:30 on Nov. 16 to raise awareness of increased domestic violence against women. Demonstrations are planned at the following locations:

  • Adelaide: Victoria Square

  • Bridgetown: Bridgetown Hub

  • Brisbane: King George Square

  • Canberra: Garema Place

  • Geelong: Johnstone Park

  • Melbourne: Parliament House

  • New Castle: Newcastle Museum

  • Perth: Parliament House

  • Sydney: Hyde Park

The highest attendance is likely in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, where over a thousand activists could join the actions. Dozens to hundreds of people will likely attend other gatherings.

Additional protests may occur in other urban centers on Nov. 16. Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the protest sites. While the demonstrations will likely remain peaceful, minor scuffles are possible.

Avoid the protests as a standard precaution. Plan for localized transport disruptions. Use alternative routes to circumvent protest sites. Leave the area immediately at the first sign of any security disturbance. Heed all official security and transport advisories.
