Malaysia: Scheduled water outages to occur in parts of Penang Nov. 28-29

Scheduled water outages to occur in parts of Penang, Malaysia, 22:00 Nov. 28-12:00 Nov. 29. Commercial disruptions possible.

Informational

The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) will conduct scheduled water outages in parts of Penang 22:00 Nov. 28-12:00 Nov. 29 to perform maintenance work at the Batu Ferringhi Water Treatment Plant. The outages will affect around 37,000 user accounts across areas such as Bagan Jermal, Batu Ferringhi, Mount Erskine, Tanjung Bungah, Tanjung Pinang, Tanjung Tokong, and Teluk Bahang. International hotels in these locations may experience no water supply or low water pressure.

Business disruptions are possible during planned outages, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water. However, larger businesses may reduce the impact by arranging alternative water sources. The water outages could extend beyond the estimated duration.

Stock up on drinking water. Confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes.
