Women's rights activists to protest across Mexico Nov. 25. Increased security, disruptions likely.
Women's rights activists from various organizations plan to demonstrate in multiple cities throughout Mexico on Nov. 25. The action aims to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The turnout will likely be largest in urban centers, especially Mexico City; up to a few thousand individuals could attend the demonstrations. Organizers have confirmed events at the following locations and times:
Aguascalientes: Demonstration at Plaza Principal Exedra from 20:00 to 22:00.
Mexico City: Rally at Glorieta de las Mujeres Que Luchan between 13:00-15:30 before marching toward Zocalo.
Cuernavaca: Gathering at Iglesia del Calvario at 15:00 before marching toward Palacio de Cortez.
Guadalajara: Rally at the Intersection of Calle Toledo and Avenida de Castilla at 19:30
Ezquiel Montes, Queretaro: Demonstration at Jardin Principal Adolfo Mateo Lopez at 09:30.
Playa del Carmen: Rally at Plaza 28 de Julio at 18:00.
Additional protests are possible in other urban areas throughout Mexico. Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near rally sites. Clashes between police and protesters cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
Avoid the protests as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations if operating near impacted areas. Seek alternate routes to circumvent any related transport disruptions. Leave the area at the sign of any security disturbances that may materialize. Heed the instructions of authorities.
