Authorities suspend rail services to and from Quetta, Balochistan Province, Pakistan, until at least Nov. 14 following terrorist incident.
Officials have suspended all rail services to and from Quetta, Balochistan Province, until at least Nov. 14 following a terrorist incident where an explosion occurred at the Quetta Railway Station on Nov. 9, killing 26 and injured 62 more. Authorities have ordered all trains scheduled to terminate in Quetta to instead terminate at Jacobabad railway station in Jacobabad, Sindh Province. This will mainly affect the Jaffar Express and Bolan Mail services. Although officials have given Nov. 14 as the tentative end date to the suspension, this could be extended if security investigations continue.
Authorities will likely maintain increased security across Quetta, particularly near the railway station. Localized transport disruptions are likely as people attempt to leave Quetta through other modes of transport, including private taxi hire. Passenger and freight train service cancellations and delays will likely occur over the coming days. Associated business disruptions are possible
