Spain: Activists to protest in cities across Catalonia and Valencia during the evening of Nov. 7
Activist groups to protest across Catalonia and Valencia, Spain, Nov. 7. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.
Several political parties and activist groups plan to demonstrate in cities across Catalonia and Valencia during the evening of Nov. 7. The purpose of the action is to denounce the local, regional, and national governments for their perceived lack of preparedness for and poor response to the recent floods in Valencia, as well as to demand the resignation of Valencia's provincial governor. Protests are slated to occur in 34 cities and towns across the two Spanish provinces with start times varying between 19:00 and 20:15. The largest of the gatherings will probably be the one planned in front of the People's Party headquarters on Carrer del Comte d'Urgell in Barcelona starting at 19:30.
Officials will likely deploy increased security to all demonstrations. Additional security measures, road closures, likely congestion may prompt localized transport disruptions. Low level confrontations between protesters and police are possible.
Avoid all demonstrations as a routine precaution. Consider seeking alternative routes to circumvent the impacted areas. Heed all instructions from local authorities. Leave the area at the first sign of any security incident.
