US: Public transport worker strike remains possible in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in mid-November /update 2

Unionized public transport worker strike remains possible in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US, in mid-November amid ongoing negotiations.

Warning

A public transport strike by unionized workers of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) remains possible in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in mid-November. Union leaders have so far postponed a strike initially planned for 00:01 Nov. 8, amid ongoing negotiations with city transit officials. If talks regarding improved wages and security fail, around 5,000 workers will join the industrial action. Authorities indicate that if the strike moves forward, it will affect most SEPTA services, except the Regional Rail.

If the strike goes ahead, significant public transport disruptions are likely. Due to overcrowding, private transportation may also be affected. Higher-than-usual congestion in and around Philadelphia is also probable.

Confirm private transportation if operating in Philadelphia in mid-November. Allow additional time to reach your destination in the city.
