US: Rail service delays occurring between Washington, DC, and New Haven, CT, due to several issues in the area Nov. 13 /update 1
Disruptions to rail services likely along Amtrak's Northeast Corridor in the US through late Nov. 13. Reconfirm transport arrangements.
Service disruptions are likely along Amtrak's US Northeast Corridor rail lines through at least late Nov. 13. Operations between New York City's Penn Station (NYP) and New Haven Union Station (NHV) will remain suspended in both directions indefinitely as technicians repair track and other infrastructure damaged in a brush fire that occurred on Nov. 12. Additionally, train services have also been suspended between Philadelphia's Gray 30th Station (PHL) in Pennsylvania and Wilmington Station (WIL) in Delaware due to downed overhead wires on the tracks; services between PHL and WIL are expected to resume at 15:00.
Disruptions are reportedly severely impacting rail service from Washington, DC, in the south through central Connecticut in the north; back-ups could extend as far as Boston's South Station in Massachusetts. Residual disruptions could continue in the northeast through at least the early hours of Nov. 14 as Amtrak works to reposition rolling stock and clear any passenger backlog.
Reconfirm rail transport reservations and schedules if planning to travel between Washington, DC and New Haven into at least early Nov. 14. Consider taking alternative modes of transport for time-sensitive travel. Monitor official transport advisories.
