Police in Ajaccio are responding to a shooting incident that left at least five persons injured as of the early hours of Dec. 24. The shooting occurred at the Brasserie le Lamparo on Boulevard Pascal Rossini at about 23:30 Dec. 23. There have as yet been no reports of fatalities; the motive remains unclear. Authorities have released no information as to whether the perpetrator has been apprehended or is still at large.

Localized transport and business disruptions will likely continue in the area into the mid-morning of Dec. 24.

Avoid the area until police have secured the scene and given the all-clear. Remain courteous and cooperative if approached and questioned by law enforcement personnel. Allow extra time to reach destinations near the Brasserie le Lamparo.
