Germany: Activists to demonstrate in central Berlin on Dec. 15
Activists to march from Lustgarten, conduct wheeled protest from Kranoldplatz in Berlin, Germany, 13:00 Dec. 15. Disruptions likely.
Activists from over 150 civil society groups plan to demonstrate in central Berlin starting at 13:00 on Dec. 15 to protest proposed government spending cuts. One group will begin at Lustgarten and march toward Mariannenplatz, while a second group will gather at Kranoldplatz and proceed to Mariannenplatz using bicycles, e-scooters, and similar vehicles, joining the first group near the intersection of Kopenicker Str. and Heinrich-Heine-Str. The march from Lustgarten is expected to have the largest turnout. Thousands of participants may take part in the demonstrations.
Authorities will likely deploy along procession routes to facilitate the demonstrations. Demonstrators' movements and possible police-enforced road closures will likely disrupt vehicular transport. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers, frustrated motorists, or opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
Avoid affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling in central Berlin. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
