Multiple labor unions plan to protest in Athens, Greece, Dec. 11. Energy, public transport, and public sector unions will denounce different aspects of government policy. The cumulative impact of the actions will likely prompt increased disruptions.

  • Energy workers and residents from Western Macedonia will protest at the Energy Ministry, from 10:30, to denounce the planned closure of energy facilities

  • Unionized public transport employees of the STASY group will strike on Dec. 11, and protest outside the Labor Ministry from 11:00

  • Unionized public sector employees will strike from 12:00 and members of the ADEDY union plan to protest outside the Finance Ministry from 13:00

  • The PAME federation of labor unions plans to demonstrate at Syntagma Square, from 18:30. Leaders will denounce the government's budget proposals.

Low hundreds to several thousand protestors are likely to participate in each of the events. Authorities will likely deploy additional law enforcement officers to facilitate and monitor the gatherings. Localized road travel and transport disruptions are likely near the affected areas. Violence is not anticipated.
