A magnitude-5.4 earthquake occurred in the Banda Sea near Indonesia's Maluku Province at around 06:41 Dec. 18. The epicenter was about 296 km (184 miles) west-southwest of Tual, Indonesia. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 111 km (69 miles), and light shaking was probably felt in parts of Maluku Province.
