Casualties reported after Azerbaijan Airlines passenger aircraft crash lands near Aktau Airport, Mangystau Region, Kazakhstan, Dec. 25.

An Azerbaijan Airlines (J2) passenger plane, flight J2 8243, crashed during an emergency landing near Aktau Airport (SCO), Mangystau Region, Dec. 25. The aircraft was carrying 62 passengers and five crew; initial reports indicate the crash killed at least 42 people. The aircraft was flying from Baku in Azerbaijan to Grozny in Russia, but was rerouted towards Aktau due to heavy fog. The exact cause of the crash is unclear.

Avoid the crash site until authorities have given the all-clear.
