Kenya: Unionized doctors plan to march in Nairobi from 08:00 Dec. 16

Doctors affiliated with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists' Union (KMPDU) plan to march in Nairobi Dec. 16 to demand the implementation of collective bargaining agreements. Protesters will gather at the Kenyatta National Hospital starting at 08:00 before marching to Nairobi Hospital, the Ministry of Health at Afya House, and Parliament buildings. Several hundred people could participate in the action. Organizers plan to call for a strike Dec. 22 if officials fail to address their demands.

Heightened security and localized business and transport disruptions are likely near the protest locations and march route. While the demonstration will probably pass peacefully, minor scuffles between police and protesters remain possible. Medical service disruptions may occur due to the absence of participating healthcare professionals.
