Electricity restored in Siargao and Bucas Grande, Philippines, as of Dec. 18. Lingering disruptions possible.
Utility provider Siargao Electric Cooperative (SIARELCO) has announced the full restoration of power to Siargao and Bucas Grande islands, Surigao del Norte Province, as of Dec. 18. Unplanned power disruptions have been affecting over 36,000 houses and businesses since Dec. 1 due to a line fault in the submarine cable connecting Siargao and Bucas Grande islands to mainland Mindanao.
Residual disruptions to telecommunications, the availability of essential services, and water supply are possible.
Siargao and Bucas Grande islands are approximately 40 km (25 miles) east of Surigao City.
Confirm accommodation reservations. Verify that security systems are operational. Ensure that generators are functional and fully fueled.
