Crews reopen lines at London's Liverpool Street Station, UK, after incident causes brief closure Dec. 17; lingering rail disruptions likely.

Warning

Officials have reopened all rail lines at Liverpool Street Station in London as of the evening of Dec. 17 following an incident there earlier in the day that prompted the brief closure of some lines. Authorities also briefly evacuated the station amid the incident. National Rail has asserted that a passenger fell ill on a train at the station.

National Rail has also said that some train services may still be canceled, delayed, or revised over the short term in connection with the incident. Greater Anglia has claimed that disruptions will likely continue until at least 20:30; however, related rail transport disruptions may extend beyond that estimated time frame in the event that train operators need to reposition rolling stock. The train disruptions may lead to increased demand for alternative modes of transport over the coming hours.

Reconfirm rail transport reservations and schedules if planning to travel via Liverpool Street Station. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider taking alternative modes of transport for time-sensitive travel.
