Germany: Activists to rally in Leipzig, Saxony, Jan. 13

Activist groups plan rally in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, 16:00 Jan. 13. Increased security, localized disruptions likely.

Informational

Activist groups, including Grandmas Against the Right, plan to rally outside the New Town Hall in central Leipzig from 16:00 Jan. 13. Activists will denounce a Christian Democratic Union party motion to remove Leipzig's status as a safe haven for irregular immigration. The number of people who may participate in the rally was not immediately clear.

Authorities will likely deploy additional police to monitor the rally. Transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the gathering. Clashes between demonstrators and police, or between ideologically opposed individuals, cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the demonstration as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the rally site. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers.
