UK: Adverse winter weather forecast to affect Isle of Man into Jan. 10

Winter weather forecast to affect Isle of Man, UK, into Jan. 10; all flights at Isle of Man Airport canceled or delayed until early Jan. 10.

Warning

Adverse winter weather conditions are forecast to persist across the Isle of Man until at least 12:00 Jan. 10. As of the evening of Jan. 9, all flights at Isle of Man Airport (IOM) have been canceled or delayed until at least the morning of Jan. 10. Additionally, the winter weather has prompted ground transport disruptions across the island in recent days, including on the A18 Mountain Road, which authorities have closed.

On Jan. 9, the Ronaldsway Met Office issued an Amber (the middle level on a three-tier scale) ice warning for the island. As weather conditions change, authorities will likely issue new alerts or update/rescind existing advisories.

The winter weather will likely continue to cause air and ground transport disruptions over the short term. Traffic and commercial trucking delays are probable along highways. Difficult and potentially dangerous driving conditions are likely on secondary and rural roadways as maintenance crews prioritize clearing major routes. Authorities may close additional stretches of motorway if driving conditions become too hazardous. Gusty winds may threaten to topple high-profile vehicles and power lines throughout the affected areas; power outages are possible.

Monitor local media for weather updates and related advisories. Confirm all transport reservations and business appointments before travel. Charge battery-powered devices in the case of prolonged electricity outages.
