Informational

Flight disruptions are possible in New Orleans, Louisiana, through at least early January following a Jan. 1 vehicle-ramming attack in the city's French Quarter. Several airlines, including Delta Air Lines (DL), Breeze Airways (MX), and Southwest Airlines (WN), have announced that flights at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) may be impacted from Jan. 1-3, likely due to the heightened security situation that could prompt congestion at MSY. The airlines have also stated that they will offer more reservation flexibility for travelers booked during this time frame. Customers can change their flights without additional fees due to the incident.

Delta Air Lines officials have stated that customers who wish to change flights must reissue their tickets no later than Jan. 6. Southwest Airlines and Breeze Airways officials noted that travelers can change their flights or travel on standby within 14 days of their original booking.

Residual flight disruptions may continue after normal services resume as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.

Confirm flights if traveling through MSY through early January. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
