Karen Londoño - Consultant, Americas
Karen works in Crisis24’s Crisis & Security Consulting division, advising clients on pre-incident security risk and crisis management consulting services and delivering projects across all industry sectors. Based in Canada, she has worked closely with extractives, helping our clients develop their crisis management capabilities through training and the development of crisis and kidnap management plans. She has also conducted security risk assessments – both at the site and corporate level – throughout Latin America and supported investigations in the Americas, APAC and EMEA.
Karen is a dual Canadian-Colombian national, who has native fluency in Spanish and English, as well as working knowledge of German. She has a background in the study of armed groups and the analysis of intrastate conflict with a focus on Latin America. She was previously a Senior Security and Political Risk Analyst in Crisis24’s (former NYA’s) Global Operations Centre in London. During this time, she was part of an embedded Incident Management Team (IMT) in Nicaragua, where she provided analytical and logistical support for the delivery of security and political risk consulting focusing on Mexico and the Northern Triangle.
Prior to joining Crisis24, Karen worked in the non-profit sector as a project manager for a health and water sanitation project in the Peruvian Amazon. She has an MSc in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an Honours BA in International Relations and European Studies from the University of Toronto, Canada. She is currently completing a CIPR Specialist Diploma in Crisis Communications and the ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification.
