Tunisia: UK relaxes travel warning July 26

The United Kingdom Foreign Office updated its travel alert for Tunisia on Wednesday, July 26. The update relaxed a previous security warning, which has been in place since a deadly terrorist attack on a resort near Sousse in June 2015. While the current warning no longer advises against travel to the majority of the country, it still maintains an advisory against travel to southern Tunisia and areas on the Libyan and Algerian borders. Individuals in Tunisia are advised to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious objects or behavior to the authorities, particularly when visiting sites deemed particularly likely to be targeted in an attack (public transportation, train stations, ports, airports, public or government buildings, embassies or consulates, international organizations, schools and universities, religious sites, markets, hotels and restaurants frequented by foreigners/Westerners, festivals, etc.). Certain Western governments advise against travel to the south of the country on the borders with Algeria and Libya, and the Kasserine region, due to the presence of armed groups. ​
