Suicide bomber detonates device outside the Marshal Fahim Defense University in Kabul on October 21; at least 15 cadets killed

A suicide bomber detonated a device outside of the Marshal Fahim Defense University in the capital city of Kabul on Saturday, October 21. The attack took place at approximately 16:00 (local time). According to local reports, a bus of cadets was targeted and at least 15 people were killed in the blast. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Avoid the area.

Context

The Marshal Fahim Defense University is located in the Chaharhi Qambar area of the PD-05 district.

This is the second suicide attack in Kabul in the past two days. On Friday, October 20, a bomber detonated a device at the at the Imam Zaman mosque in the Dasht-e-Barchi area, killing at least 56 people. The Islamic State (IS) eventually claimed responsibility for the bombing, which has attacked Shi’a targets with increasingly regularity over 2017.
